Police Demolish Drug Peddlers' Properties on State Land in Anantnag

 
Anantnag, Apr 29 (KNS):  Police and civil authorities in South Kashmir's Anantnag have demolished multiple illegal structures, worth crores of rupees, built on state land along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in Sangam area as part of a major crackdown against drug peddlers.
 
An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the drive targeted properties linked to individuals with a history of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
 
The demolished structures, operating as roadside eateries, were found to be illegally erected on state land falling under Khasra No. 319 (min) of estate Sangam.
 
Among those demolished was 'Kashmir Restaurant (Dabba)', owned by Gul Mohammad Mir and Bashir Ahmad Mir. Police said Gul Mohammad Mir was involved in an NDPS case registered in 2011, while Bashir Ahmad Mir was named in two such cases registered in 2020 and 2024 at Police Station Bijbehara.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
Another eatery, 'Taj Restaurant (Dabba)', owned by Mohammad Maqbool Mir and his sons Aijaz Ahmad and Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir, was also razed. The family is accused in an NDPS case registered under Sections 8/15 and 29 of the NDPS Act in 2021.
 
A third structure, identified as 'MIR Restaurant', belonging to their brother Amma Mir, was also demolished during the drive.
 
"The demolition was carried out strictly as per legal procedures, reinforcing the commitment to act firmly against drug peddlers and unlawful encroachments," a police spokesperson said, reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against the drug menace.
 
Authorities have appealed to the public to share information regarding drug trafficking and other illegal activities the official further added. (KNS)
