 Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): The National Police Commemoration Day was observed with full ceremonial tradition across Jammu and Kashmir. The main function was organized at the Armed Police Complex Zewan where Lt. Governor J&K Shri Manoj Sinha was the Chief Guest. ADGP Armed/IR J&K, S. J. M. Gillani read out the names of brave hearts of the country.  A blood donation camp in collaboration with Police Hospital Srinagar was also organized to remember the fallen heroes.

 The function was attended by Advisor to LG,R.R Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary, J&K  A.K Mehta, Principal Secretary Home J&K Shri R.K Goyal, GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen A. S Aujla,  a galaxy of Civil, Army, CAPFs, senior & retired police officers, NOKs of martyrs, and Jawans of Police and CAPFs.

 Meanwhile, the day was observed at all Zonal, Range, Unit and Wing headquarters where senior police officers led their personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.

 In Kulgam, SSP Kulgam Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarty along with ASP NHW, DySP Hqrs Kulgam, DySP DAR Kulgam, other officers/officials of Kulgam and families of Martyrs paid their homage by placing floral wreaths at the Martyrs Monument at DPL Kulgam. SSP Kulgam applauded the role of martyrs and said that today we salute our Martyrs for their determination, courage and spirit of sacrifice. On the occasion, Kulgam Police in collaboration with District Hospital Kulgam organized a one day Blood Donation Camp to save the lives of the poor and needy at crucial juncture.

In Pulwama, the function was held at DPL Pulwama, to pay homage to those policemen who lost their precious lives for the peace and integrity of the nation. SSP Pulwama Shri Gh Jeelani Wani-JKPS led the officers in paying floral tribute to all martyrs of the police. DC Pulwama Shri Baseer-ul-Haq Khan Choudary, ASP Pulwama Shri Tanveer Ahmad-JKP, CO CRPF 182/183 and other senior police officers also attended the function.

In Shopian, SSP Shopian Ms Tanushree led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation at DPL Shopian where contingents of JKP, CRPF & JKAP performed a silent parade on the beats of Pipe Band.  SSP Shopian paid floral tributes to the martyrs who laid their lives in the line of duty.

In Awantipora, the sacrifices of police in the line of their duties were marked with solemnity on the Police Commemoration Day held at DPL Awantipora. SSP Awantipora Shri Mohd Yousuf paid floral tributes to all martyrs of the police of the country and two minutes of silence was observed with a heavy heart.

In Budgam, Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL Budgam where SSP Budgam Shri Tahir Saleem led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.  On the occasion, Dy CO 43Bn CRPF, ASP Budgam, Army officers, officers from different Bns of CRPF, Dy. SP Hqrs, senior police officers and other officers showered floral tributes to all martyrs of the police. Moreover, Police officers of Budgam also distributed tokens of gratitude among NOKs of Police Martyrs and listened patiently to the grievances of Police Martyrs' families and assured the issues will be taken up for proper redressal.

In Ganderbal, the sacrifices of J&K Police in the line of duty was marked with solemnity on the Police Commemoration day held at DPL Ganderbal. SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The function was followed by wreath laying ceremony and showering of flowers on the photos of Martyrs by DC Ganderbal Shri Shaymbir, SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, DDC Vice Chairman Ganderbal, Dy Commandant CRPF, ASP Ganderbal, SDPO Kangan, DySP DAR Ganderbal, DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, DySp PC Ganderbal, Major Hitish 24RR, Major Randawa 34 Assam Rifles, all SHOs and DOs Ganderbal, Jawans, guests and the members of Martyr’s families. On this occasion DC Ganderbal, SSP Ganderbal alongwith with ASP Ganderbal distributed gifts among NOKs of Police Martyrs.

In Sopore, the function was held at DPL Sopore where contingents of JKP, CRPF and JKAP performed a silent parade on the beats of Pipe Band. SSP Sopore led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation; besides, two minutes of silence was observed with a heavy heart.

In Kupwara, Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL Kupwara with all respect and reverence for those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. DDC Chairperson Kupwara Irfan Panditpuri, DC Kupwara Shri Doifode Sagar Dattatray-IAS, Vice Chairperson Haji Farooq, DDC members, Chairman MC Kupwara, BDC members and media fraternity attended the function. Besides, officers of local RR, TA and CAPF units also paid their tributes to the martyrs.

In Bandipora, the event was organised at DPL Bandipora. On the occasion DC Bandipora Shri Owais Ahmad and SSP Bandipora Shri Mohmmad Zahid led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora, CJM Bandipora, ADC Bandipora, CPO Bandipora, CO-14 RR, CO 26 RR, CO 3rd BN CRPF, CO 14 BN BSF Hqr Madder, ASP Bandipora and other senior officers of police, Army CAPF also attended the function, besides families of police martyrs of district Bandipora, retired police personnel, prominent citizens & distinguished guests were also present.

In Handwara, the function was held at DPL Handwara. SP Handwara Ms Sheema Nabi Qasba led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation, ADC Handwara Shri Nazir Ahmad, SDPO Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, other officers of Police, SSB, CRPF, BSF and families of martyred police personnel were present on the occasion.

In Baramulla, SSP Baramulla Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. On the occasion, contingents of District Police, 53Bn CRPF, 2nd Bn SSB and IRP 13th Bn and other officers participated.

In Anantnag, Police Commemoration day was observed at DPL Anantnag wherein the martyrs were remembered for their sacrifices for the nation. SSP Anantnag Shri Ashish Mishra, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Shri Basharat Qayoom, Commandants  of different CRPF/IRP/Army Battalions and other senior officers of civil and police administration paid rich tributes to the martyrs. The names of martyrs were read by SSP Anantnag. The gifts were distributed among the NoKs of martyrs as a token of respect. Later SSP Anantnag inaugurated a blood donation camp where many police personnel participated in blood donation.

 In Jammu Zone impressive functions were organized in all 10 Districts of Jammu Province where a large number of Senior Police Officers, retired police personnel, members of the martyrs’ families and members of civil society participated.

 In the winter capital Jammu, the main function was conducted at Gulshan Ground Jammu where Shri Mukesh Singh Addl. Director of Police Jammu Zone, Jammu led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.  GOs of all Jammu based Units, apart from a large number of senior/retired Police Officers, prominent dignitaries/Citizens and media personnel of Jammu also participated in the function.

 ADGP Jammu Zone read out the name of brave martyrs of the country which includes martyrs from Police Organizations and PMF like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NCB, NDRF and FS, CD & HG. While lauding the role of brave martyrs, he said J&K Police has been rendering yeoman service to the Nation and the society under most difficult and challenging circumstances at the cost of their personal safety and comfort. He prayed for the heavenly peace of the departed souls and also for the prosperity and welfare of their families.      Earlier all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station where rich tributes were paid to all the Martyrs. A blood donation camp was also organized by Police in collaboration with Team Jammu in which senior Police officers /officials and volunteers of team Jammu donated blood.  Moreover, another impressive function was organized again in the evening at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Station, Jammu where a large number of Police/Civil families assembled to light candles and paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of the nation.

In Rajouri, the Police Commemoration day parade was organised at District Police Lines Rajouri where Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri Poonch Range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Mohammad Aslam, Commandant IR 2nd Battalion, Randeep Kumar, Deputy Commandant Khalid Amin, Additional SP Rajouri Vivek Shekhar Sharma, other gazetted police officers including SDPOs from the district, Station House Officers and Police Post Incharges, representatives from army, representatives from CRPF, sister agencies and civil society members alongwith media personnel were present on this occasion.

In Doda, National Police commemoration Day was observed at DPL Doda as a mark of respect and tribute to those Martyrs who have made their supreme sacrifices for the integrity and sovereignty of the nation. SSP Doda, Shri Abdul Qayoom read out the names of Martyrs to remember their sacrifices. The Commemoration Parade was comprised of various components of Police and CAPF viz District Police Doda, IR-5th Bn Doda, CISF-581 and SSB-7th Bn and the parade was commanded by Sh. Shoket Ali, DySP DAR Doda. A large number of officers both from Police and Civil Administration, prominent persons, PRI functionaries were present on the occasion. 

In Reasi, the Police Commemoration Day was observed at Martyrs Memorial District Police Lines Reasi wherein the bravery of Martyrs was remembered. Rich tributes were paid to all the Martyrs of Police and Paramilitary forces who made the Supreme sacrifice in the line of duty for the unity and integrity of the nation . Ms. Babila Rakwal Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Sh. Amit Gupta SSP Reasi, Sh. Shiv Deep Singh CO IR 1st, Sh. Jameel Ahmed Principal STC Talwara Sh. Surjeet Bhagat ASP Reasi and Officers from Army and paramilitary forces  who were present on the occasion paid rich tributes to the Martyrs. After the formal Commemoration day Parade a token of love and affection in the form of gifts were handed over to the family members of Martyrs.

In Ramban, the Commemoration Day was observed at District Headquarters Ramban where an elaborate function was organized in the District Police Lines (DPL) Ramban to honour the martyrdom of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in line of duty.  The Superintendent of Police Ramban Ms Mohita Sharma readout the names of the martyrs and paid rich tribute to them.  Addl SP Ramban,  ACR Ramban, SDPO Gool, SDPO Banihal, DySP Hqrs Ramban, all SHOs of district Ramban and other officers of District Police Ramban and CAPF attended the function besides respectable and the family of NoKs of the martyrs and media fraternity attended the function. The families of NOKs were also handed over gifts as token of respect for the sacrifices made by martyrs from the police department which was followed by lunch with NOKs of martyrs

In Udhampur, the Police Commemoration Day was observed at DPL Udhampur to pay rich tributes to bravehearts who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. Sh. Suleman Choudhary, DIG U-R Range presided over the function.  Dr. Vinod Kumar, SSP Udhampur, and all other officers of the District also participated were present on the occasion. Families of police martyrs of District Udhampur besides retired police personnel, prominent citizens & distinguished guests were invited for the Police Commemoration Day Parade to pay homage to Police Martyrs. Sh. Suleman Choudhary, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range read over the names of martyrs as a mark of homage, respect and remembrance.

In Samba, National Police Commemoration Day was observed by District Police Samba in DPL Samba in the memory of Police Martyrs who made supreme sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty.  SSP Samba Dr. Abhishek Mahajan read out the names of all the Police Martyrs who attained martyrdom for the motherland across the country and remembered them for their sacrifice while upholding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. Later, an interaction was held by SSP Samba with the NoK’s of Martyrs and assured them of every possible help from Samba Police. The family members of Police Martyrs visited the Police Martyrs Gallery at DPL Samba. The gift items were also distributed among the families of Police Martyrs.

In Poonch, the Police commemoration day was observed at DPL Poonch where hounour the martyrdom of the police personnel of the country the SSP Poonch Shri Rohit Baskotra readout the names of brave hearts of the country.

In Kishtwar, the Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines Kishtwar to honour the martyrdom of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. The Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Sh. Shafqat Hussain Batt readout the names of the martyrs. DC Kishtwar, Addl. SP Kishtwar, DySP DAR, DySP PC, SDPO Atholi and officers of CAPF respectable and the family of NoKs of the martyrs attended the function. Later SSP Kishtwar interacted with the NoKs of the martyrs and listened to their grievances and issued on the spot instructions for their redressal and assured that their grievances shall be taken up with the higher authorities.

In Kathua, The Police Commemoration day was observed at District Lines Kathua to honour the brave hearts of the country, SSP Kathua Shri Ramesh Chander Kotwal led officers and personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. He, on the occasion readout the names of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Similar functions were held at all Unit and wing Headquarters to pay homage to the brave hearts of the country. (KNS)
