Srinagar, June 24 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached over four kanals of land in north Kashmir's Bandipora district under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of its ongoing drive against drug trafficking, officials said.
The attached property, measuring four kanals and eight marlas, belongs to Farooq Ahmad Mir, a resident of Rakhi Shilvat area of Sumbal in Bandipora district, they said.
According to police, the property includes three kanals of land under Survey No. 854 and one kanal and eight marlas under Survey No. 1076.
The action was taken by Police Station Sumbal under Section 68F(2) of the NDPS Act in connection with two narcotics-related cases registered against the accused, officials said.
They said one case was registered at Police Station Sumbal in 2024 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act, while another was registered at Police Station Pulwama in 2026 under Section 8/22 of the Act.

Police said the attachment was carried out after investigations linked the property to proceeds allegedly generated through illicit drug trafficking activities.
The move forms part of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling the financial networks of drug peddlers and preventing the use of illegally acquired assets, officials said.
They said the police remain committed to taking strict action against individuals involved in narcotics-related offences and curbing the spread of drug abuse in society.
The attachment of properties suspected to have been acquired through proceeds of crime has emerged as a key component of the anti-narcotics strategy being pursued by law enforcement agencies across Jammu and Kashmir, officials added.(KNS)
