Srinagar September 10:(KNS)  Acting tough against the drug dealings in district Kupwara and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a notorious drug smuggler and recovered a huge quantity of Heroin from his possession.

Officers from Police Post Taad headed by Incharge PP Taad ASI Muneer Ahmad during patrolling at Sudhpora Forward area intercepted a person moving in suspicious circumstances identified as Tanzeer Ahmad Najar son of Mohd Sayeed Najar resident of Sudhpora. During checking, 04 Kgs of Heroin was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 94/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Karnah and further investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.(KNS)
