Ganderbal February 21:  Police in its recent action drug dealings and illegal activities have arrested a bootlegger in Sopore and recovered illicit liquor from his possession. Meanwhile a drug peddler was booked under PSA in Ganderbal.

In Sopore, officers at a checkpoint established at Dangiwacha intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No JK05D-0236 driven by Tariq Ahmad Khan son of Hussain Khan resident of Rampur Uri. During search, officers were able to recover illicit liquor from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Dangiwacha where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized. Accordingly, case FIR No. 28/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation is in progress.

In Ganderbal, earlier a huge cache of contraband substances were recovered from a drug peddler identified as  Shamaas Din Lone @Shaba son of Mehraj- U- Din   Lone resident of Duderhama, Ganderbal of which  Cases vide FIR Nos 99/2013, 202/2013 and 126/2018  stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal.

Accordingly, the investigation of the cases was completed and the arrested drug peddler was booked under PSA after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities. 

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and illegal activities in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & illegal activities will be dealt as per law.
