Police arrests 04 drug peddlers in Budgam, contraband substances recovered

Srinagar April 02 (KNS):  Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.


A police party of Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Choon Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Maruti Eeco) bearing registration number JK04H-1091 with two persons on board. During search, 5.36 grams of Heroin was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Mir son of Mohammad Sultan Mir resident of Choon Budgam and Shahbaaz Nisar son of Nisar Ahmad Ahangar resident of Ichgam. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 81/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation and on the disclosure of arrested persons, 02 more accused persons namely Javeed Ahmad Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone resident of Eidgah Mohalla Humhama & Raqeeb Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Gonikhan Srinagar A/P Gogoo Humhama have also been arrested in the instant case & 7.72 grams of Heroin and cash of Rs 6400/= was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Further investigation into the case is going on.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. (KNS)
