Srinagar May 14 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Awantipora and recovered contraband/ Psychotropic substances from their possession.     

In Ganderbal, a police party led by Incharge Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal at a checkpoint established at Batwina arrested two drug peddlers identified as Shabir Ahmad Zargar son of Bashir Ahmad Zargar and Mohd Ashraf Zargar son of Nazir Ahmad Zargar, both residents of Batwina. During search, Codeine Phosphate, Petril Clonazepam & Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus Capsules were recovered from their possession. He has been shifted to PS where he remains in custody.

In Awantipora, a police party led by Incharge PP Reshipora SI Ishfaq Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti -JKPS at a checkpoint established at Kawani Brabandin intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 600 grams of charas powder was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Arshid Ahmad Dar son of Gh. Mohd Dar resident of Ladermand Awantipora. He has been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated. 

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112.  People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
