Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS): The government today ordered a magisterial inquiry into the suspicious death of a young man in Peerbagh locality in Humhama area in Budgam district.
District Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone told KNS magisterial inquiry, to be carried out by Additional deputy commissioner Srinagar, Hamidullah Mir, has been ordered to probe the causes of the suspicious death of youth.
Lone said that the area falls in the Revenue jurisdiction of Srinagar, but in police jurisdiction of Budgam.
A throat-slit body of Owais Bashir Malik, 22, son of Bashir Ahmad Malik of Peerbagh was found today morning near the railway track, police said, adding that the youth was missing from Tuesday. Owais is an engineering student of KITE polytechnic college.
SSP Budgam, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, told KNS that the police has registered FIR no. 9 under section 302 (murder) and DSP Headquarter, Budgam, will probe the murder.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Doctors have performed post mortem on the body and as per the doctors’ report, the body had violent marks and was gravely mutilated,” the SSP told KNS. Lone said that forensic report is also awaited.
Locals of Peerbagh poured on the roads and protested at Humhama road after the body was found.
Eyewitness told KNS that the body people blocked the Airport road and staged protests. Police rushed to the sport to pacify protestors. But the angry protesters clashed with police, and the latter lobbed teargas shells to thwart the protests. Dozens of protesters and policemen were injured in the clashes, the witnesses said.
The clashed disrupted traffic on the vital Airport road and many passengers, including NC working president Omar Abdullah, were stranded on the road on their way to Airport to board flights. (KNS)
