Plantation drive held in Kupwara’s Langate

Handwara March 03 (KNS) : The forest department division Langate in collaboration with the 17 infantry Nowgan brigade on Friday conducted a plantation drive in Nowgam area of Langate. 


On the occasion, Ranger Mawer Mudasir Ahmad along with the staff and army personal planted trees in the army compound in Nowgam, thus kickstarted the plantation drive in presence several army officers. 

Speaking at the occasion, Ranger Mawer said that we have kick started this plantation drive in the waste lands and denuded area falling inside and outside forest area, which we are extending to other areas in coming days. 

Under 'Green J&K drive' the drive has been started to plant trees across the several locations of forest division Langate. As of now we have planted around five hundred trees, but in coming days a set target of 5 thousand plantation trees will be achieved, he said. 

The aim of the Green J&K is to start mass plantation of trees across Jammu Kashmir, in Mawer we have five blocks, and this plantation will be taken to all blocks of Mawer. 

In this process, we are engaging schools, other institutions, students, ever walks of life to ensure successful plantation of trees to make green J&K drive a successful drive, he added. 

The other officials present in the drive, emphasized on the role of trees in protection of the environment and human survival and urged upon all stakeholders including the general public to plant more and more trees in this plantation season. (KNS)
