Srinagar, Feb 04 (KNS): Forests Department in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority , Social Forestry Division Anantnag, Lidder Forest Division, and ITI Seer Hamadan organised a plantation drive in ITI Seer Hamadan today.
District & Sessions Judge Anantnag Parvaiz Hussain Kachroo, who was the chief guest of the function, inaugurated the Plantation Drive by planting a sapling in the lawns of the ITI Seer. Among others who planted the saplings include Secretary DLSA Anantnag, Rafia Khaki, Conservator Forests South Range, Tawheed Dewa, DFO Lidder Forest Division Dr.Mehrajuudin ,DFO Social Forestry Anantnag Shama Rohie, District Officer Soil & Water Conservation of Anantnag & Kulgam, Mr. Mohammad Ramzan, DFO Forest Division Anantnag and Dy. Director Forest Protection Force Anantnag.
On the occasion a seminar was also organised in which students of the ITI Seer Hamdan presented their thoughts on importance of plantation and conservation of forests water water. District & Sessions Judge Anantnag, Parvaiz Hussain Kachroo on the occasion said that we must do concrete efforts to save our forests. He added that students can play a vital role in creating awareness regarding the conservation of forests and plantation of tress, adding that they should act as ambassadors to aware people about the importance of plants for sustenance of life.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe stressed upon the concerned departments to create mass awareness regarding the importance of plantation of tress for maintaining the ecological balance. Conservator forests South Circle, Tawheed Ahmad Deva on the occasion said that every individual should plant one tree every year to contribute in conservation of forests. He added that need of the hour is to enforce the laws governing the protection of forests, adding that Forest department has achieved a notable success in curbing the cutting and smuggling of forest trees. Rafia Khaki on the occasion provided legal awareness to the students regarding their duties towards society including preservation of trees and maintaining the ecological balance.
