Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNS): Press Information Bureau Srinagar Thursday organised a day long workshop for the local journalists of Kupwara and Baramulla districts at Conference Hall of Dakh Banglo Baramulla.
About 50 journalists from the twin districts participated in the workshop. The journalists were sensitized about their role in highlighting local issues and making people aware in rural areas about benefits of centrally sponsored welfare schemes.
The workshop was chaired by Bharti Vaid, Additional Director General, PIB Srinagar who stressed on a need for a proactive developmental journalism in the state so that people at grassroots can be made aware about the schemes the governments at both central and state levels have launched for the welfare of the people.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelShe urged the participating journalists to play a positive role in highlighting developmental issues and be a mirror to the government in the implementation of the welfare schemes.
Special sessions about various nuances of developmental journalism and role of a local journalist viz-a-viz development in rural areas were also held in the workshop, which was addressed by a battery of senior and experienced working journalists besides other trainers.
The journalists were also awarded certificates of participation by PIB. KNS’s Handwara correspondent Raja Akbar Dar was also awarded a certificate. (KNS)
