PHDCCI celebrates International Women's Day, felicitates women sports personalities in Srinagar  

Srinagar, March 09 (KNS): To acknowledge the contribution of women achievers, the PHDCCI Kashmir celebrated International Women’s Day with zeal and enthusiasm on Monday, followed by the felicitation ceremony of Women Sports personalities of India at Hotel Radisson Srinagar.

In statement issued to KNS, a spokesperson said that Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, mentor PHDCCI-Kashmir, Baldev Singh Raina, Chairman PHDCCI-Kashmir Welcomed 22- young International and National Women Kayaking and Canoeing players of India from Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab , Rajasthan, Delhi, UP, Kerala, J&K, who are preparing for 2021 Asian Olympic Championship. 

"After the formal inaugural the event was followed by felicitation of the Women Players with a memento and Award Certificates."

he said that the event was graced by Capt Pijush Kanti Baroi, Canoeing and Kayaking sprint Master Coach, Bilquis Mir, Director Water Sports & Co-Chair Women Empowerment Forum- Kashmir, Shahana Fatima, Chairperson PHDCCI Women Empowerment Forum Kashmir, Ms Qaisar Mir, Co-Chair, PHDCCI Women Empowerment Forum Kashmir and Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa, General Secretary PHDCCI-Kashmir.

Bilquis Mir Jammu and Kashmir’s Kayaking and Canoeing star and Director Water Sports on the occasion detailed her passion for water sports with the challenging, struggling particularly for a Kashmiri girl to excel internationally and to create world class water sports facilities single handedly in Dallake Srinagar. 

She shared the tough journey of her career with the water sports activity when she had no role model and how she emerged from the famed Kayaking star of India as an inspiration for several others and how she represents India internationally and now how she is training hundreds of girls as a National Coach.  

Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya Mentor PHDCCI-Kashmir in his Inaugural address shared that he is delighted to interact with these young women change-makers. 

"I am pleased to see our younger generations picking up the baton so confidently, to galvanize our collective efforts for realizing women’s rights." 

He added that on this International Women’s Day let us rejuvenate efforts for a better world, realizing equal rights for women and men, girls and boys everywhere. 

Chaya added that this generation values women and trusts with amazing responsibility. "Women are given equal potential at work and are allowed to stand among and sometimes ahead of men in many fields. Today, women have started realizing their strengths and abilities are ready to step out of their home, contributing to the success of their home and the entire society."

Baldev Singh Raina, Chairman PHDCCI-Kashmir in his Welcome address said that Women’s Day holds a great significance and it’s becoming a custom today year after year. "It is the celebration of respect, appreciation, love and care towards women in your life and in the society." 

Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa extended the formal vote of thanks and highlighted the status of Women in various religions and societies. (KNS)
