Srinagar, June 24 (KNS): The Government on Friday said that it will take four more months for the installation of PET scan at SKIMS Srinagar.
National Conference MLA from Khanyar, Ali Mohammad Sagar raised the lack of PET scan in SKIMS and problems facing the cancer patients from valley.
Sagar said the patients had to move to other states for treatment of cancer in absence of related equipments in the state.
“Cancer patients are moving other states like Mumbai, New Delhi for treatment. Years have passed since government announced about installation of PET scan at SKIMS. What crucial steps government is taking in this regard,” he said.
Minister for Health Education Bali Baghat admitted that problems had aggravated in the state due to non-availability of PET scan at SKIMS and Jammu Medical College.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that it will take four months for the government to install the PET scan at SKIMS.
“Of course people are facing problems in the non -availability of the PET scan in top two institutes of the state. Since it is very costly, it will take some 4 months to the government in installing it in the state,” he said.
He informed the SKIMS purchase Committee has finalized the process related to the purchase and installation of PEt scan. “We will ask Government of India to expedite the process and we will pursue it,” the minister said. (KNS)
