Srinagar, Feb 15 (KNS): The implementation of the much hyped National Food Security Act (NFSA) in JK witnessed sour moments on its very first day with people protesting against the authorities while terming the act ‘anti-poor’.
According to KNS correspondent, the inauguration of the NFSA in Kashmir valley was ought to be held at central Kashmir Watlar area of Ganderbal district on Monday. The event was marred by the protests and demonstrations by the general public, forcing the concerned authorities to cut short the function.
Reports informed that as the director CAPD and the deputy commissioner Gnaderbal reached at the venue where the function was held, people in large numbers raised anti- government slogans and chaotic scenes started dominating the entire official event. People while expressing anger against the government decision over implementing NFSA in the state said that the authorities have turned blind eye towards the hardships being faced by the people at large and that proving mere 3 Kgs of Ration and 2 KGs of aata to the people is a cruel joke.
Demanding immediate roll back of the new food act, people said they would intensify the protests if the ration as per the earlier schedule is not allocated to them.
People say the quota under the new food act is going to be unacceptable to them as sustaining with such meagre allocation would impossible.
Meanwhile, after repeated attempts made by the KNS to contact director CAPD, he didn’t answer any of the phone call. (KNS)
