Srinagar November 07 (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani on Monday said that people are longing for the return of  democratic set up in J&K.

This he said while addressing a joint meeting of Block Committee members of Hyhama and Kalaroos earlier today. He asked the party workers to work in tandem to defeat the hostile forces working against the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Among others District President Kupwara Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, DDC members and local party unit functionaries were also present on the occasion.

He said JKNC has again taken a centre stage in the fight against the forces hostile to people's identity. “The landslide victory of JKNC in the last DDC elections and its re-emergence as the dominant political force across J&K has sent a clear message to anti- J&K forces. People are fed-up with the bureaucratic setup and want an early end to this high handed approach and unilateral policy making,” he said.

We are fighting an agenda which BJP is pushing forward with the help of its local allies, he said. “Dr Farooq sahib's vision and mission has become a rallying point for people. With greater credibility and wider acceptance among people, it is only NC that can restore the dignity of our people and put them on the path of success and development.”

“Our ground cadre has to reach every mohalla and every village and educate the people about the vision and mission of the party,” he added.

On the occasion, the Block committee members apprised the Provincial President about the ongoing party activities in their respective blocks. Among other issues, the block committee members also raised the issue of unemployment, development deficit and misgovernance with the Provincial President.

Echoing the sentiments of the party functionaries, Nasir said that the development works are only confined to shoddy government PRs and files. “The ground situation is contrary to the claims of the government. The grievances of our people have piled up. Administration is unconcerned about issues faced by people. There is no accountability on ground,” he said. (KNS)
