Srinagar, July 21(KNS): Following the 25 February border ceasefire pact between India and Pakistan, the armies of both countries on Wednesday exchanged sweets at two places along the Line of Control in Kashmir on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. 

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Army said that on the occasion of Eid-ul- Zuha and as a gesture for promoting Peace, Harmony and Compassion in the true spirit of the festival, India and Pakistan Armies held a Flag meeting and exchanged sweets at Kaman Aman Setu, Uri & Tithwal Crossing on Kishanganga River in Tangdhar, Kupwara.

It said that the event has been held when both the Armies have been strictly following the Ceasefire Agreement on Line of Control. 

Officials said that the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged sweets and greeting each other on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Adha along Line of Control (LoC) in Teetwal Sector Of Karnah. They said that the soldiers of both countries along the border at Teetwal crossing point in Kupwara exchanged sweets and pleasantries on the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha in a genial and cordial atmosphere. 

 The officials said that the crossing bridge at Teetwal has been a key enabler for peace meetings. The newly achieved calm along the LoC as a result of ceasefire agreement has brought warmth which has been displayed on several occasions between the two neighbours. They added that the sweets exchange is a gesture appreciated by both countries and is expected to go a long way in promoting peace, harmony and compassion in the true spirit of the festival with a hope of better future ahead. 

Local people on either sides also termed this gestures are deemed to foster peace and harmony which in turn will bring succour to the population living along the borders and promote prosperity and happiness and expected to go a long way in promoting peace, harmony and compassion in the true spirit of the festival.

He futher siad that Tmthe exchange of sweets was held at 11:30 AM today with adherence to all COVID Protocols by both sides.(KNS)
