Peace in subcontinent a dream without resolving Kashmir: Shah

‘Pandits welcome but separate colonies unacceptable’

Srinagar, Jan 27 (KNS): The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday said to dream of peace in the subcontinent without resolving Kashmir is ridiculous.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said the world nations must mediate in Kashmir dispute and stress on all stakeholders of the issue to start a dialogue in this regard. “Otherwise, the threat of war will continue to loom over the region,” he said.
Shah said Indian leaders must give it a thorough thought that if they want their country to make swift progress, then they should resolve all their disputes including Kashmir.
He reiterated that people of all religions and regions of the state will be taken on board while deciding the future of Jammu Kashmir. “The people of J&K are the prime stakeholders of this dispute. When we talk of referendum, we mean the opinion of the whole population of Jammu Kashmir,’ he said.
Reiterating his stand on the return of Kashmiri Pandits to valley, Shah said, “We have never been against their return or rehabilitation but to settle them in separate colonies is unacceptable for us.
Shah said the state administration, under the garb of settling Pandits in valley, is conspiring against the integrity and special status of Jammu Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“It is a deep rooted conspiracy of RSS and BJP to settle non-resident Kashmiris in the state under such mischievous plan which only promotes communalism in the state,’ he said.
“The resistance leadership has always welcomed the Pandits by even visiting personally to their camps,” he added.
He appealed Kashmiri Pandits not to “fall prey to ‘nefarious designs’ of elements who want to ‘exploit’ them and are bent upon ‘creating communal disturbance’ in the state.”
“We have been living together since centuries and should keep our tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood intact,” he said.
Commenting on the celebration of India’s Republic Day in Jammu Kashmir under the barrel of gun, Shah said New Delhi and its local collaborators are making a vain attempt to mislead the world community as “such deceptive politics don’t carry any weight in today’s age of globalisation”.
“Reality is that the people of Jammu Kashmir have always dissociated themselves from such events and strongly protest on these days,” he said.
“How can a nation that rendered more than 6 lakh lives unfurl the flag of a colonial power,” Shah added. (KNS)
