Srinagar, Oct12 (KNS): Senior Leader and PDP Chief Spokes-person, Dr. Mehboob Beg has welcomed the Judgment of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court upholding the permanence of Article 370 of the Constitution of India. We welcome the Judgment and it underlines our constant stand on the subject, PDP has always said that Article 370 is indispensable and forms the very basis of the relation that the state shares with the rest of the Country, said Dr. Beg in a statement to KNS.
The former Parliamentarian also said that Article 370 could not be repealed, abrogated or amended and that he was glad that the same has been upheld by the Highest Court of the State. Dr. Beg further added that it was vital to understand that J&K negotiated its position with the rest of the Country and it was not right to compare it with the other states of India.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe further pointed-out that J&K 'acceded' to India and had not 'merged' with it.
Dr. Mehboob Beg also said that his party condemned the incident in Udhampur in which a Kashmir-bound truck was set on fire by some miscreants. Dr. Beg appealed to the people to maintain peace and tranquillity and not fall prey to those trying to instigate the masses.
Dr. Beg further said that the people of the state must stand united in accordance with the spirit expressed by the State Legislature by passing a unanimous resolution in this behalf. (KNS)
