Doda, Nov 27 (KNS): Lambasting those who have been advocating war and voilence, Peoples Democratic Party General Secretary Sartaj Madni Sunday said that there was no alternate to peace and dialogue - a vision envisaged by Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
"Some people are frustrated with the normalcy returning to Kashmir Valley and as such they were resorting to rehetorics with an attempt to provoke the two neighbouring countries to war", Madni said here.
He was addressing a well attended convention of party workers of Doda and Bhaderwah assembly segments here today. He was accompanied by Minister for RDD, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan, Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak and Mehboob Iqbal.
Madni said that some elements have thrived on unrest and instability in Jammu and Kashmir and they were adverse to the peace. "Gun and wars have never done anything good in any part of the world. Our party stands for dialogue and peace and will stand firm against such elements", he said.
Peoples Democratic Party will fight hate and war mongers, he said adding, "PDP was formulated not only to serve the people but also for a larger interest to resolve issue and issues of Jammu and Kashmir. We stand by our policy of dialogue, lasting peace with dignity and friendly relations with neighbouring countries", he said.
Late Mufti Muhammad sahib had never given importance to power and instead he on several occasions preferred interest of state and its people over the power, he said adding that present Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is following the footsteps of her father to serve the masses.
He said that PDP had several options to form the government but it respected the people mandate and joined hands with BJP in order to bridge gape between Kashmir and Jammu regions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAs Mufti sahib had himself said it was an alliance not only with BJP but the entire country who had given exclusive mandate to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking in the occasion Minister for RDD, Law and Justuce Abdul Haq Khan saud that Chenab Region will a sea change on all fronts during the present dispensation as major projects are under pipeline. He added that the party workers have a huge responsibality on their shoulders to work as bridge between the people and government.
He said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti his department has revolutionised rural development. The NREGA which was being used for political gains is today producing valuable public assets, he said.
He said that he had inherited liabilities worth crores of rupees under MGNREGA which were cleared during the initial months of the government.
He said that his party is committed to upgrade the infrastructure in rural areas. The party has emerged from rural area and it is our responsibility to serve the people of far flung areas of the state, he said.
He urged the party workers to strengthen hands of CM Mehbooba Mufti for better and transformed Jammu and Kashmir.
MLC Firdous Tak and Mehboob Iqbal said that Chenab Valley has stood behind the CM Ms Mehbooba Mufti when attempts were being made to create unrest in the backdrop of Kashmir situation. They demanded early start of power projects, special employment package and focoused attention on rural infrastructure in Chenab valley.
Distt President Shuhab ul Haq, Riyaz Ahmed Mintoo, Thakur Yudhvir, Sajid Hussain Mir, Mohd Iqbal Butt, Ghulam Mohammad Naik, Sajad Khukhar, Choudhary Hussain, Hasham ud din and Majeed Butt also spoke on the occasion. (KNS)
