PDP Senior Spokesperson Iqbal Tramboo Criticises NC Government Over Power Tariff Hike

Srinagar, Aug 22 (KNS) : PDP Senior Spokesperson Mohammad Iqbal Tramboo has strongly criticised the National Conference-led Jammu and Kashmir Government over the 6.83% hike in electricity tariffs, which is set to come into effect from September 1.

In a statement issued here, Tramboo said the tariff hike has come at a time when people are already struggling with rising household expenses and economic hardships. He questioned the government’s decision to increase electricity charges instead of providing relief to consumers.

He said the National Conference had sought votes on the promise of providing 200 units of free electricity, but instead of fulfilling that commitment, consumers are now being burdened with higher power bills.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“This is yet another betrayal of the trust reposed by the people in the NC government. The people were promised 200 units of free electricity, but today they are being presented with a tariff hike. The government must explain this complete reversal of its electoral commitment,” Tramboo said.

He urged the government to reconsider the hike and provide immediate relief to poor and middle-class families, particularly those already struggling to meet their basic expenses.

Tramboo said the government must prioritise the welfare of consumers and fulfil its electoral promises rather than adding to the financial burden on ordinary people.(KNS)
