PDP pays tributes to Mirza Afzal Beg on his 40th death anniversary

Srinagar, June 11 (KNS): People's Democratic Party paid glowing tributes to late Mirza Muhammad Afzal Beg on his 40th death anniversary.

In a statement, party president Mehbooba Mufti said the contribution made by late Mirza Afzal Beg in the public life of Jammu & Kashmir would be remembered forever.
“His contribution in the historic land reforms as revenue minister, which led to equal distribution of land resources among people, has been monumental. People would continue to recall his farsightedness and maturity with which he conducted himself in politics and administration,” Mehbooba said. 
Terming late Afzal Beg as a seasoned leader who was not only an astute politician but an equally effective and innovative administrator who ruled the political canvas of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba said his services will be remembered for a long time.
"He was a torch bearer for Jammu and Kashmir who worked all along for the welfare of the people of the State. An astute politician, down to earth human being and a person richly endowed with faculty of wit, humor and satire,” she added. 
On the occasion party general secretary Dr Mehboob Beg paid homage at the ancestral graveyard of Mirza Afzal Beg at Sarnal Anantnag. 
Those who paid homage include vice-president A R Veeri, general secretaries G N Lone Hanjura and chief spokesperson Suhail Bukhari. (KNS)
