As mark of respect to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today cancelled its foundation day function and organized a condolence meeting to pay tributes and homage to Bharat Rattan APJ Abdul Kalam.
All senior leaders of the party were present in the meeting in which floral tributes were paid to the great soul.
Former President APJ Abdul Kalam died on Monday evening after he was admitted to a hospital following sudden illness at Shillong.
Paying his tributes to APJ Kalam, former Minister and senior vice president of the party, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan said that born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Kalam studied physics and aerospace engineering. “He served as the President of India from 2002 to 2007 and was awarded the nation's top civilian awards, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna”, he recalled. He said that country was indebted to APJ Abdul Kalam for his contribution as a scientist and science administrator, at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of the party Daman Bhasin said that late Kalam was not only a scientist but a teacher, scholar and great visionary personality, who reached to the highest post in India by his hard work.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said that real tributes to the great man were that we all should work with commitment and dedication in our respective fields. He said that Kalam’s popularity in the country was unmatchable and he was respected by every section of the society.
While paying homage to former President, former Minister, Sardar Rangil Singh saisd that Dr Kalam had won popular acclaim as President of India, known as “missile man”. He was not only a great scientist, who contributed immensely in the field of science and technology to the country, he was also a great human being.
He added that Kalam’s social life was an inspiration since he was known as the most humble President ever who had opened the doors of Presidential place for general public.
