Srinagar, June (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party legislator from Haveli in Poonch district, Shah Muhammad Tantray, Tuesday demanded developing places in his constituency having tourist potential.
Speaking during the discussion and voting for allotment of grants on Tourism and other departments held by the chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, the legislator said that many places in Poonch have the potential to attract tourists like Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
"Such places need to be developed to explore their tourism potential. It will help in overall economic development of the district," Tantray said, adding, that Poonch district harbors a famous waterfall but due to road connectivity, it has not been explored or developed.
He said that these places have no road connectivity and thus remained unexplored, and ignored.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The MLA said that job aspirants from Poonch have to travel 250 km to appear in SSB exams. "A center should be provided at Poonch to avoid the difficulties that they face whenever these exams are held," he said.
Tantray demanded that the codal formalities for releasing money for poor under different schemes should be removed, as they face hardships to avail these schemes.
He demanded that the KPS officers should be provided the same cadre as KAS officers.
He said that policemen should be provided 20% hardship allowance.
The legislator pitched for fire service station for Mandi Tehsil, saying that 10 panchayats of his constituency fall in the Tehsil but have no fire service station.
Tantray demanded exploring hydro-power potential in the border district. (KNS)
