Jammu, Feb 13 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Waheed ur Rehman Para on Friday accused the BJP of pursuing a “policy of hatred” and selectively targeting minorities in eviction drives from state land.
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Para said attempts were being made to communalise poverty. “Any person living on state land due to poverty — this is not a Hindu-Muslim issue. Many Hindus are our brothers and they too reside on state land,” he said.
Para called for uniform application of eviction policies and stressed that regularisation, if considered, should benefit all. “If evictions are to be carried out, they must apply to all. Why should it be done selectively on religious lines?” he asked, recalling the PDP’s earlier push for a Land Regularisation Bill aimed at protecting the poor.
The Pulwama legislator also accused BJP leaders of “shifting goalposts” on Kashmir-related issues.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“First he raised the medical college shutdown, then demanded statehood for Jammu, now he says Kashmiris should be removed. First Kashmiri students were attacked, now this. Why? This is our state,” Para said.
On regional matters, he said India should welcome democratic transitions in neighbouring Bangladesh and allow its people to choose freely.
Para further criticised government efficiency, saying, “Expenditure has increased but efficiency hasn’t. Religious politics must be set aside. Work on people’s real issues.”
He reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to public outreach and youth engagement. “We will listen to people, represent their issues. Only then can we earn their trust. Inshallah, youth will return to PDP,” he added.(KNS).
