PDP maintains deliberate silence over beef-ban issue to retain power: Hakeem Yaseen

Chairman People Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen Monday alleged that “power-greedy” Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained a “deliberate silence” over beef-ban issue, “as it (PDP) does not want to lose power in Jammu and Kashmir”.
Talking to KNS, Yaseen, however, said that there is no need to raise the issue in the coming autumn session of Legislative Assembly starting from October- 3, as there will be “no impact of the High Court ruling on beef issue” in the state.
Yaseen, who represents Khansahab constituency in Assembly, asked PDP to make its stand clear the way its partner - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) - in government has done.
“PDP leadership knows that taking a stand on beef ban will cost them the power. So they are deliberately keeps silence over the issue,” he said.
Yassen added that on one hand BJP leaders are stressing on the implementation of the High Court orders criminalising bovine- slaughter in the state; on the other hand BJP prefers not to speak on the issue.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that both parties despite having the ‘ideological’ differences entered into an alliance to form the government only to ‘deceit’ the people of the state.
“Both parties are power greedy and leaderships of both parties deceived people to attain power in the state,” he said.
Stressing on decriminalising bovine-slaughter in the state, he said that criminalising bovine-slaughter has hit the sentiments of the Muslim majority of the state. “When others eat and drink which is not permitted in Islam, why does beef consumption by Muslims matter to them,” he said.
Yasin further said that Muslims know better how to protect their religion and would consume anything ‘halal’ (permitted in Islam). “There will be no implementation of any law which stops bovine slaughter. The recent Supreme Court ruling too has cleared that it cannot interfere in religious affairs,” he added. (KNS)
