PDP Hits Back at NC Over “Misleading Claims” on Rajya Sabha Agents

 Srinagar, April 28 (KNS):

The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through its spokesperson Mohit Bhan, has strongly rebutted the recent remarks made by Imran Nabi Dar, terming them “factually incorrect” and based on a clear misreading of the Rajya Sabha agents’ appointment process.

In a statement, Bhan clarified that the appointment of polling agents is strictly the prerogative of contesting candidates. He pointed out that the PDP had not fielded any candidate in the concerned Rajya Sabha election and had extended unconditional support to the National Conference candidate. “In such a scenario, the question of PDP appointing polling agents simply does not arise,” he said.

He further noted that all procedural requirements, including the appointment of agents, were duly carried out by the contesting candidate as per established rules. The PDP, he added, had issued a whip to its legislators, who acted in line with the party’s decision and in coordination with the authorized representative of the National Conference during the election process.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Bhan said that raising questions on clearly defined procedures only creates confusion and reflects either a lack of understanding or an attempt to mislead the public. He urged leaders to verify facts before making public statements, especially on matters involving institutional processes.

Referring to statements made by the National Conference leadership, Bhan added that the party’s president Farooq Abdullah had himself acknowledged PDP’s support and publicly thanked Mehbooba Mufti for it. “The National Conference must decide who is stating the facts—its spokesperson or its own president,” he said.

Reaffirming the party’s position, Bhan said PDP’s support during the election was transparent and in accordance with democratic norms, and any attempt to distort this reality would not stand scrutiny. (KNS)
