Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNS): As the PDP and BJP have requested more some time for meeting with Governor N N Vohra to fix the date of swearing-in of Mehbooba as the first woman chief minister of the state and her cabinet, both the parties will first work out the modalities for government formation.
Sources said that the alliance partners will first workout complete modalities like distributing ministerial between them and when to hold swearing-in of the chief minister and her cabinet.
The leadership of PDP and BJP will jointly meet the Governor N N Vohra about the governmnet formation and date for swearing-in. “Both the alliance partners decided to complete all the modalities and then meet the Governor for fixing date to swearing-in. It was done to ensure the government formation takes place as soon as possible,” sources said.
The significant development for government formation took place in Jammu today after Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti flew for Jammu alongwith senior PDP leaders and MPs, Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Tariq Hameed Karra, former minister and MLA Abdul Rehman Veeri and former finance minister Haseeb Drabu to the winter capital.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The PDP and BJP presidents were scheduled to meet Governor N N Vohra this evening about government formation and fix date for oath taking, but later requested for more time.
Meanwhile, BJP legislators today nominated Dr Nirmal Singh as the legislature party leader in a meeting held in Jammu, which was attended by BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav and MoS in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office Dr Jitendra Singh.
BJP president Sat Pal Sharma said: "The BJP legislature party has elected Nirmal Singh as its leader and nominated him for the deputy chief minister's post in the new coalition government."
Sharma said the BJP had decided to extend support to Mehbooba Mufti to head the PDP-BJP government in the state. (KNS)
