Budgam, July 7 (KNS): People's Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and facilitate the immediate reopening of tourist destinations in Budgam district, including Yousmarg, Tosa Maidan, and Doodhpathri.

In a letter addressed to the Union Tourism Minister, Yaseen said the situation has significantly improved since the tragic Pahalgam attack, and several other tourist locations across Jammu and Kashmir have already been reopened. He emphasized that the popular tourist spots in Budgam are located close to Srinagar Airport and are among the areas with the lowest security threat.

“Doodhpathri, Yousmarg, and Tosa Maidan are not only breathtakingly beautiful but also economically vital for thousands of locals who depend on tourism for their livelihood. The prolonged ban is pushing youth and families into deep financial distress,” Yaseen said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He called on the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take personal note of the issue and ensure swift action. “Shri Amit Shah ji has consistently spoken of peace, prosperity, and development in Jammu and Kashmir. Allowing safe tourism in Budgam will reflect that commitment on the ground,” he added.

Yaseen also appealed to LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah to coordinate efforts with central ministries and take concrete steps to revive tourism in Budgam. “Both the UT administration and elected leadership have a crucial role in restoring economic normalcy. Reopening these spots would be a confidence-building measure and a source of hope for local youth,” he said.

He expressed hope that the Union and UT governments will work together to prioritize the issue and announce an early decision that will bring relief to the people of the region.(KNS)
