Parts of Kashmir to witness additional curtailments as landslides damage tower of Samba-Amargarh Transmission Line 

 

Srinagar, Jan 21 (KNS): Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) on Friday said that parts of Kashmir Valley will witness additional power curtailments over the next 10 days after landslides damaged a transmission tower of 400KV Samba-Amargarh Sterllite Transmission line last night.

According to a public notice, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), chief engineer distribution KPDCL said that restoration works have been taken up by the concerned agency and it will take at least 10 days.

“Due to landslides at Thanamandi Rajouri 1 tower of 400kV Sambha-Amargarh Sterllite Transmission Line has slipped because of land erosion as a result of which power supply to Kashmir Valley has got partially affected since
intervening night of 20th and 21st January, We are short of availability of power by 10%, this has resulted in additional curtailments,” reads the notice.

It reads that restoration works have been taken up in hand by concerned agency and will take about 10 days.

“Consumers are requested to bear with the corporation and inconvenience caused
to general public is regretted,” it reads. (KNS)
