Every person in every village, an important stakeholder in rural development

Budgam July 12:(KNS)   Department of Rural Development has the potential to emerge as engine of development for rural areas and uplift image of rural india, panchayat raj institutions playing a pivotal role in formulation and implementation of people oriented projects, these remarks were made by Prataprao Jhadhav, Chairman 19 member parliamentary standing Committee for Rural development during an interaction with DDC Chairman Nazir Ahmad Khan, DDC Budgam Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza and other PRI representatives held at Sports Ground Sheikhpora organized by the Department of RDD Budgam.

The 19 member parliamentary committee was earlier received at Panchayat Bhavan Humhama by DDC Budgam Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza accompanied by Director Rural development Department Tariq Ahmad Zargar, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem Khan, ACD Budgam and other concerned officers.

While briefing the chairman and other parliamentary delegation about facilities, accommodation and purpose of constructing Panchayat Bhavan, it was given out that almost 95% work has been already completed on the project till date. The Bhavan constructed at a cost of Rs 9.20 Cr has may unique facilities including seating capacity of 250 for holding conferences and other events simultaneously. The Bhavan also has 5 VVIP stay rooms, the remaining work of the Bhavan will be completed by the end of September 2021.

During interaction session, the Parliamentary committee had discussion with DDC’s/BDC and other PRI representatives. The chairman parliamentary committee emphasized upon critical role of PRI functionaries in development and reiterated its support whenever required. The chairman further added that every person in every village should be benefitted directly or indirectly through centrally sponsored schemes related to rural development. The unnecessary hurdles in implementation of Rural Development schemes need to be curbed and need of hour is to show dedication and commitment in smooth implementation of rural schemes.

The delegation also visited Panchayat Ghar at sheikpora and simultaneously inspected and appreciated the Handicraft and food item stalls exhibited by NRLM. Speaking on behalf of DDC and other PRI’s Mr. Nazir Ahmad Khan chairman DDC appreciated and hailed the visit of this committee in choosing District Budgam as first choice. He said such occasions provide ample opportunity to project and discuss issues and demands of people at gross root level.

The chairman of the committee Mr. Prataprao Jhadav reiterated that the aim and objective of visiting areas of Budgam is to inspect projects and have first hand status of implementation of Schemes/Plans which the Department of RDD has initiated with regard to development of villages and other remote rural areas. The chairman emphasized upon PRI’s to use right and power which the constitution and law of the land has provided, strictly in the interest and welfare of the common people.

The chairman said judicious use of funds provided by central Govt through RDD had the potential to change diversity of any area through its vast scope. We shall ensure that every citizen of every village gets benefited from these initiatives for sustained development. Later the 19 member delegation accompanied by District Administration visited other areas also where they looked into some projects and works presently taken in hand by Department of RDD. The parliamentary Committee at Budgam also inspected pathway for joggers at Sheikpora and also visited one newly established CSC at Budgam equipped with all facilities. (KNS)
