Srinagar,10 March (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir senior leader and former MLC Sheikh Ghulam Qadir Pardesi on Wednesday greeted the pundit community on the Shivratri locally known as Herat and Meraj Ul Alam. 

In his message, he said both the eves should be celebrated in their true spirit. He said Herat festival is emblamatic of kashmir's syncretic and plural cultural ethos and has from time Immemorial given the message of communal and harmony inter religious harmony, which he said have been the cultural mainstay of kashmiri culture.

On Meraj Ul Alam observance, Pardesi said the night marks the asunscion of holy messenger of Islam(PBUH) towards heavens. He said the night would be marked by prayers and supplication.
