Srinagar, Sep 23 (KNS): Panic gripped in Damhal Hanji Pora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district after some girls became the victim of mysterious braid chopping in the last two days.
According to KNS correspondent, Zahoor Andrabi, over a dozen girls have became the victim of braid chopping in the last two days, which has created panic among the girls in the district.
The locals, as per KNS correspondent, said the braid chopping incidents have compelled their women folk to stay indoors.
They said that the administration has failed to take steps in this regard for the wellbeing of the people.
Meanwhile, Bar Association DH Pora also held a protest today against what they termed as “the failure of the authorities in tracing out the accused involved in braid chopping incident”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The protesters were holding banners and raised slogans against the administration.
They demanded that the authorities should take immediate steps to trace the involved persons. “Many girls have so far become the victim of braid chopping. We appeal the higher ups to look into the matter as such incidents have created panic among the locals here,” they said.
Sub District Magistrate (SDM) DH Pora, Abdul Rashid Mir told KNS that the police has already registered five FIRs in this regard. “The investigation has already been taken up. There is no need to panic. I appeal the general public to help the administration in tracing out the persons involved in such incidents,” he said. (KNS)
