Jammu, Jan 18 (KNS): Legislators from both the opposition and as well as treasury benches in the State Assembly here on Wednesday called upon the government to throw open Chennani-Nashri Tunnel for diversion of traffic on Srinagar Jammu National Highway which according to them would ease the process of Traffic restoration of Kashmir highway shut by heavy snowing in Valley.
According to KNS correspondent, raising the issue in the State assembly the opposition members backed by some legislators of ruling PDP-BJP combine protested against the deepening power crisis, road blockades, defunct health facilities in Srinagars main referral hospitals and water crisis.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh in his reply sought 24 hours time for restoration of power in Valley and informed the house that power will be restored in phases by Thursday morning.
Angered by the reply of the Deputy Chief Minister the NC MLA Mohammad Akbar Lone asked to restrict himself to tell only digestible lies.
On restoration of road connectivity’s Works Minister Abdul Rahman Veeri informed the house that 22 snow clearing machines, 18 dewatering plants and 16 JCBs have been pressed into service to ensure immediate restoration of traffic on the roads.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The opposition members not satisfied with the reply of the deputy Chief Minister went into the well of the house and amid slogan shouting the opposition MLA Asgar Ali Karbalaie was marshaled out on the directions of Deputy Speaker assembly Nazir Ahmad Gurezi.
The entire opposition walked out of the house against the direction of Deputy Speaker to marshal out Karbalaie.
According to KNS Correspondent, however Er. Rashid did not join the joint walkout of the opposition and choose to remain present in the house.
However Congress MLA Usman Majeed returned to the house after Deputy Speaker withdrew his decision on return of Kargil MLA Asgar Ali Karbalaie to the house.
Other opposition members returned to the house after about 20 minutes. (KNS)
