Srinagar, Mar 16 (KNS) : The district administration in Pampore, Pulwama, has prohibited the sale and use of firecrackers following complaints from residents about health hazards and environmental pollution.
An official order issued on Monday by Tehsildar Malik Aasif Ahmad, who also serves as the Executive Magistrate First Class for Pampore accessed Kashmir News Service (KNS) invoked powers conferred under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS)-2023. The directive is applicable within the territorial limits of Tehsil Pampore.
Officials stated that the decision was prompted by representations from local residents highlighting issues of noise and air pollution, as well as public safety risks posed by the use of explosive items.

The order warned that any person found violating the prohibition would be subject to legal action. Station House Officers of the Pampore and Khrew police stations have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the ban within their respective jurisdictions. (KNS)
