Pakistani national repatriated after crossing LoC in Kupwara

Srinagar, Jun 19 (KNS): A Pakistani national who was apprehended after crossing the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district earlier this month was repatriated to Pakistan on Friday, the Army said.
 
Asad Khan, a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, was apprehended in Simari village of Kupwara on June 12 after he crossed the LoC, according to an Army statement.
 
The Army said Khan was handed over to Pakistani authorities on June 18 following the completion of necessary procedures.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
During his stay in India, Khan was treated with dignity and compassion in keeping with humanitarian principles, the statement said.
 
The Army said the repatriation reflected its commitment to humanitarian values and professional conduct.
 
The Line of Control serves as the de facto border between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, and instances of inadvertent crossings by civilians from either side have been reported in the past.(KNS).
