Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal BJP leader and national executive member ST Morcha today said that Pakistan Independence Day celebrated in Srinagar will not be tolerated. Poswal said that if Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed wants to restore lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir, he should not allow such anti-national act in the state.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Poswal was addressing people after hoisting national flag in Tanghar town of bordering Karnah constituency in Kupwara district.
“I will be forced to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and take action against anti-national elements if Mufti Sayeed failed to book the culprits for daring to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day in Srinagar on August 14,” the BJP leader said.
“If Mufti wants permanent peace in the state, he should take stern action against such anti-national people so that nobody dares to even think about celebrating the Pakistan day on Indian soil.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelI wonder how Sayeed has maintained a criminal silence over such a serious issue and let the culprits go scot-free,” he added.
Poswal said that since Mufti Sayeed took over as Chief Minister of the state, Kashmir is increasingly witnessing pro-Pakistan and anti-national activities like raising of IS and Pakistani flags especially across summer capital Srinagar.
The BJP leader said that he was supposed to raise tricolour in Lal Chowk but he later decided to raise it in Karnah near LoC keeping in view intensified frisking carried out by security forces in Srinagar.
Earlier hundreds of workers of BJP attended an impressive flag-hoisting ceremony in Tanghdar. The workers led by Poswal raised the pro-BJP and pro-India slogans. Sweets were also distributed on the occasion. Poswal also joined the Independence-Day celebrations at Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office in Tanghdar and distributed cash prize among school children.
