Srinagar, Nov 9 (KNS): The Inhabitants of the Veersren Langanbal area of Pahalgam Monday held protest here against the Pahalgam Development Authority for their allegedly unlawful demolition of their two-storey residential house.
According to KNS correspondent, Abid Hussain, a resident of the Veersren Langanbal, whose house was demolished by the PDA, said, “The PDA officials have been demanding Rs 50,000 from us, but we didn’t pay them since we hold all the legal documents of our house”.
The residents alleged that their houses were demolished illegally by the PDA. “The CEO of the PDA would send us his acquaintances every other week to pay Rs 50,000. He made our lives hell now by demolishing our house. We have nowhere to go,” alleged an elderly lady.
The protesting residents carried all the legal documents of their residential houses and the court orders, wherein the court has directed the police station concerned to lodge an FIR against PDA.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
However, the residents alleged that despite of the court directions, no FIR has been registered against the PDA officials.
PDA Chief Executive Officer Riyaz Ahmad called all the allegations baseless.
“The house has been raised illegally by the owner in 2012 without the permission of the PDA. Besides, High Court order and even then CEO PDA had shot the owner a notice that the house is being raised illegally. During elections in 2014, the house owner illegally renovated the house,” the CEO told KNS. He said that all the allegations levelled against PDA by the owner were baseless. (KNS)
