Farooq Abdullah demands restoration of 4G, release of detainees

Srinagar, Dec 24 (KNS): While expressing gratitude to the people of the J&K in expressing faith in democracy, the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) asked the Government to respect and reciprocate it.

Talking to reporters in a presser, Spokesperson of the Amalgam, Sajad Lone said, “We express gratitude to all the people who voted and even to those who did not vote for us in large numbers for reposing their faith in democracy. Now the people of J&K after so many up heals have reposed their faith in the democracy of this country. It is incumbent upon and onus lies on the administration to reciprocate and respect their faith in the democracy,” he said according to KNS correspondent.

He was flanked by all the leaders of PAGD including Former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah.

However Lone said, ‘I will say there are some disturbing reports coming about interference in democracy in peoples verdict wherein the Govt of the day is acting in the partisan manner and infact becoming a participant by directly indirectly facilitating moves by some people. To attract the independent votes by confining them, I think they should resist from this and not humiliate this great verdict of people of J&K.”

He added, “History is witness with examples that those who try to humiliate verdicts of the people end up in the disaster. We need to respect this verdict and show respect to the people of J&K. under no circumstances democracy should be tinkered with and it would be totally unacceptable.”

He criticized the Government for detaining some political leaders, “The other new trend is preventive detention. What is the logic? It is one of the most peaceful elections. The most non-violent election should have ended with something good, but it ends up with preventive detention. This is unethical in terms of lack of violence. Traditionally we have seen lot of violence in last three decades. Why they need to detain people. We condemn these detentions with all the power we have;. We hope after such a great performance of democracy we won’t face such arbitrary detentions. They should be released immediately.”

On the occasion, PAGD President Dr Farooq Abdullah said PAGD will be more united and stronger in future as well.

He demanded the sufficient electricity and water during the winter besides restoration of 4G internet.

“I requested LG in Budgam that 4G should be restored quickly as PM is taking of 5G now,” he said, “Those people who are held in Thanas for no reason or rhyme should be released immediately so that demcarcy could survive.” (KNS)
