Srinagar, Mar 4 (KNS): A paedophile man who called himself a faith-healer was arrested by police in north Kashmir’s Sopore who is accused of sexually abusing hundreds of children over last 15 years.
SP Sopore Abdul Qayoom told KNS that they have arrested a fake faith healer, Aijaz Sheikh, on Thursday morning on complaint of a child, who was allegedly abused by Sheikh.
“We have arrested him and lodged FIR number 22 under section 377 of RPC and lodged him in police station,” SP Qayoom told KNS.
He said that police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by SDPO Ashish Mishra to completely investigate the case and unearth the whole wicked plan of the fake faith healer.
Sheikh is married and has three children including two boys and a girl. He claimed to have studied in a Darul Uloom in Gujarat and he has spiritual power to resolve peoples problems.
The SP said that preliminary investigations revealed that Sheikh would threaten victims—in the age group of 8 to 14 years—of dire consequences from demons, ghosts and spirits, if they would not remain silent.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Police said that the fake faith healer would trap gullible people who would go to him for their problems.
“The fake faith healer would ask the parents or relatives of the child that his jinn would converse and work in the night only. This way he would ensure that the child or children remain with him for night in a separate room,” the police said.
“This way he has abused hundreds of children from the last 15 years. He would abuse children himself or ask them to do sex with each other,” the police said.
A police official who was posted in Sopore in some years ago told KNS that people and even police knew that the fake faith healer was abusing children. “But no complainant came forward,” he said.
The police has appealed all those children who were abused by the accused to come forward and record their statements with the police against the paedophile man.
Dr Shabir Ahmad, Coordinator ChildLine told KNS that those children or their parents who want to complaint before the police should approach them on their tollfree number 1908. (KNS)
