Rajouri, Sep 07(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir police on tuesday said it recovered RS 1.64 crore during search operation in Nowshera area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. 

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)  Rajouri Sheema Nabi Qasba while addressing a press conference said that joint operation was launched by Rajouri police and Indian Army in the Sariya village of LOC area of Nowshera Tehsil. 

She said thaat during operation two bags were found in the area and after checking the bags police found  Indian Currency  notes of worth RS 1.6470600 crore from bags and after inquiry it was found that these bags belongs to Manzoor Ahmed son of Gulzar Hussain who is resident of Sariya village.

She also said soon after watching search party he abandoned the bags and escaped from the spot and currently he is evading the arrest. 

SSP Sheema Nabi said it is pertinent to mention here that the accused is relative of one Sikander who was arrested in a joint operation by Punjab Police and Jammu Kashmir Police and currently he is in custody of Punjab Police. 

She futher added that amount recovered is sized in presence of magistrate and in this connection an FIR has been registered and further investigation is going on while more arrests and recoveries are expected during investigation of the case.(KNS).
