KATHUA, Dec 8 (KNS): J&K BJP Vice President YudhvirSethi slammed the opposition for misleading the farmers in the country by propagating blatant lies about the farm bills. He said that some political parties are trying to spoil the atmosphere, especially the present stand taken by them on model APMC Act shows their double standards:

In a statement issued to news agency-kashmir news service (KNS), While addressing poll campaign meeting in support of Karan Attri, Party’s candidate from Mahreen Constituency of Kathua district, the senior BJP leader asserted that Congress is spreading misinformation and misleading the farmers over the new Farm Laws. Opposition parties are trying to disrupt law and order in the country, he added. He said that several national parties had supported the APMC Act but now they are showing double standards.
“The Congress, in their 2019 manifesto, had promised to repeal the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Act and make trade of agricultural produce including export free from all restrictions,” Sethi said, adding that those who are supporting the Bharat Bandh should apologize to the farmers for misleading them over the Farm Laws.
Sethi said that BJP government at the Centre has taken revolutionary steps for the benefit of farmers including Crop Insurance Scheme, PM Agricultural Irrigation Scheme, has done the work of linking farming with technology. Along with this, through the ‘One Nation One Market’, the work of selling the produce of farmers has been done, he said.
“The opposition parties are betraying the spirit of values, ideologies and principles in politics by unleashing anarchy in the name of opposing farm bills and supporting Bharat Bandh call,” he said.
Sethi reiterated that the recently passed farm bills in the parliament do not impact MSP or provisions of APMC Act in any way. He urged the party workers to reach out to farmers on the ground and inform them about the importance and intricacies of the new farm reforms, how these will empower them. He added that the BJP led Government at the Centre has always taken decisions not for political gains but keeping the interests of farmers and labourers in mind.
Sethi emphasised that PM, Narendra Modi as well as Union Home Minister, Amit Shah had shown political guts and facilitated extension of 3 per cent reservation to International Border (IB) dwellers at par with populace living near Line of Control (LoC), and coming to the rescue of those who have been neglected by previous governments since decades and decades. He was also critically about the negativist attitude of opposition whereby they have chosen to oppose the government even on the issues of public importance and national concern.
Sethi appealed to the farmers not to fall prey to the false or misleading political tactics of the opposition parties. He asked the opposition parties which have backed the Bharat Bandh call to apologise before the nation. Seeking vote and support for BJP candidate in the DDC polls, Sethi said that BJP-led government is well wisher of people and will leave no stone unturned to ensure that people’s interests are given first and foremost priority.
Among others who were present included Janak Bharti senior leader, Rahul Hans and Raj Singh Mandal Pradhan (KNS).
