Opening ceremony of KPL 2021 held at DPS Srinagar

Srinagar, July 28 (KNS): In keeping up with the commemoration of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, a cricket tournament Swarnim Vijay Varsh Kashmir Premier League 2021 has been organized under the aegis of Chinar Corps.

 

In a statement, spokesperson said that Phase 1 (pre-qualifiers) of KPL 2021 commenced on July 01 in 10 districts of Kashmir, in which nearly 200 teams participated with much enthusiasm and energy.

 

"After a series of well fought matches, each district selected the best team to represent their district at Phase 2 - League matches of KPL 2021. The Phase 2 of the League kickstarted with much josh and grandeur today at DPS, Srinagar. The event was attended by esteemed civil and military dignitaries," he said.

 

He said that the opening ceremony of KPL 2021 commenced with the inauguration of the magnificent trophy of Swarnim Vijay Varsh Kashmir Premier League 2021 and words of motivation by Vijay Kumar Dhar, chairman, DPS Srinagar.

 

"Followed by an address by Cdr Chinar AD Bde, explaining the ethos of KPL 2021 and the endeavor of grassroot connect and integration of talented youth through the medium of cricket. The inaugural match between Srinagar Suleimans and Bandipora Climbers kickstarted with tossing of coin by Majid, Member, BCCI JKCA. The match was high on energy & josh & has set the benchmark for the subsequent League matches." 

 

He said that the match was won by Bandipora Climbers by 6 wickets and Malik Zameer was adjudged Man of the Match for scoring 52 runs of 22 balls.

 

"He was awarded a cheque of Rs 3000 for his wonderful performance. The match kept the spectators engaged until the very end and the captains of both the teams took the opportunity to express their gratitude for seamless organizing and privilege to play," he said. (KNS)
