Ganderbal, Mar 26 (KNS) ; One person was killed and four others, including two tourists from Maharashtra, were injured after two cars collided head-on in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district on Thursday, official sources said.
The accident took place at Rail Gund when a vehicle carrying tourists from Maharashtra collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction, they said.
Officials said police personnel led by SHO Police Station Gund, Rayees Ahmad, rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and launched a rescue operation.
The injured were shifted to Primary Health Centre Gund for primary treatment.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali, a resident of Kargil, who was driving one of the vehicles. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, sources said.
Among the injured, three are residents of Ladakh and two belong to Maharashtra.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case. Initial investigations suggest overspeeding led to the collision, though further proceedings are underway to ascertain the exact cause, officials added. (KNS)
