Srinagar, May 13 (KNS): Directorate of Urban Local Bodies in collaboration with Municipal Committee Kulgamon Saturday organized one day seminar titled ‘Solid Waste Management’ in Mini Secretariat Kulgam.
According to KNS correspondent, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Nazir Ahmad Laway was chief guest on the occasion.
The seminar was attended by Director Urban Local Bodies, Riyaz Ahmad Wani, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz, district officers, people from trade, Auqaf and experts from different field besides hundreds of students.
Director Urban Local Bodies, Riyaz Ahamd Wani while addressing participants said that department has been able to organize one day seminar on solid waste management in order to make people more aware regarding the overall sanitation of Municipal committees.

MP Nazir Ahmad Laway while addressing a gathering said that the government is keen to provide better sanitation facilities to the people and is trying to equip all Municipal committees with modern technology.
DC Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz while thanking all guests said that the district administration will try to take up the matter of sanitation of the district with the government.
He also said that the public conveniences will be constructed in main town Kulgam for the convenience of the people.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the function, Wani told KNS that more departmental vehicles including suckers will be provided to all the Municipal councils and committees for the better sanitation facilities.
He said department is hiring these machines for the betterment of the public. (KNS)
