Srinagar, Jul 15 (KNS): Hospital acquired infection and the spread of superbugs is posing massive challenges for healthcare professionals, care providers and hospital paramedical staff, this was stated by Hilal Ahmed a health care volunteer while addressing a huge gathering of Medical and Para Medical Staff of various Kashmir based Hospitals. He further stated that patient safety and safety of healthcare professionals is paramount. Infection control is now a large and critical subject needing attention.
While highlighting the importance of such a awareness programmes, Director SKIMS said that Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical sciences has successfully conducted a lecture and workshop on the importance of infection control practices with a perspective of improving the skill set and knowledge of CSSD and TSSU personnel. Improperly washed, disinfected and sterilized with weaker workflows and poor monitoring, control and assurance is one of the big reason for hospital acquired infections in patients with critical illness requiring surgery and other invasive interventions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He further stated that with more and more surgeries being minimally invasive and usage of newer devices poses newer challenges for CSSD staff.
While appraising the CSSD personnel about latest and international guidelines, the experts said that upgrading the skills will go a long way in improving healthcare in the state and preventing infections, antimicrobial resistance and spread of superbugs.
