Srinagar, June 17 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah welcomed the first group of Hajj pilgrims returning to Jammu and Kashmir at the Srinagar International Airport on Tuesday evening, marking the beginning of the arrival phase for this year’s pilgrims.
The Chief Minister personally greeted the 178 pilgrims, part of the total 3,606 from the Union Territory who performed Hajj this year. He congratulated them on the successful completion of the pilgrimage and their safe return.
Omar Abdullah interacted with the pilgrims, listened to their experiences, and inquired about the facilities provided during their journey. The Chief Minister commended the discipline and devotion shown by the pilgrims during their spiritual journey.
To ensure a smooth arrival process, the government has arranged all necessary logistical and transport facilities to help the pilgrims travel from the airport to their respective hometowns.
Minister Javed Ahmad Dar, Advisor to the CM Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Dheeraj Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Executive Officer J&K Haj Committee Dr. Shujhat Qureshi, and other senior officials were also present to receive the pilgrims.
