Srinagar , Oct 9 (KNS) : Reacting sharply to the growing sense of helplessness and administrative paralysis in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, Senior Vice President Jammu and Kashmir Peoples conference and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil, expressed deep concern over the inefficiency and inexperience of the present administration, led by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and said that despite being in power for over a year, the current dispensation has failed to deliver even basic governance.
In a statement issued, “It is extremely disappointing that there is no visible progress in any major sector — be it horticulture, Roads & Buildings (R&B), power, or public welfare. The government seems to be functioning without any vision or direction. Vakil added
Drawing a comparison with the Delhi government led by Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Vakil said, “Despite operating under the same constitutional framework and rules governing Union Territories, Kejriwal proved that governance is possible with commitment and political will.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe brought revolutionary changes in education, making Delhi’s government schools better than many private institutions. He ensured 24/7 electricity supply and access to clean drinking water, all while facing continuous political obstruction by the BJP-led Central government.
Vakil questioned the current administration’s lack of initiative and inability to implement even basic reforms. “What is stopping Omar Abdullah’s government from delivering. One year has passed and people are still waiting for relief, development, and transparency,” he said.
He further stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had high hopes post-elections, but their expectations have been met with disappointment. “The government’s non-performance is a betrayal of public trust. Immediate corrective measures are needed to restore faith in democratic governance,” Vakil concluded.(KNS)
