Omar Abdullah is Glorifying Rioters, Insulting Kashmiri Pandits, and Lying About History: Tarun Chugh

Srinagar, July 13 (KNS): BJP National General Secretary and J&K Prabhari Tarun Chugh strongly criticized National Conference leader Omar Abdullah for glorifying what he termed as "rioters" of July 13 and comparing the incident to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

In a scathing statement, Chugh said, “This is not martyrdom. This is a cover-up of Islamist violence. And it’s coming from the same man whose party stayed silent when Kashmiri Pandits were driven out at gunpoint.”

He reminded the nation of the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits between January 12 and 16, 1990. “Over 1.5 lakh Pandits were forced out of their homes. Loudspeakers blared threats, temples were attacked, and women were targeted. Entire families fled with nothing, while the political forces — then called Muslim Conference, now National Conference — looked the other way,” Chugh said.

“And now they have the audacity to call rioters ‘martyrs’? Omar Abdullah is trying to rewrite history by spitting on the memories of victims,” he added.

Chugh slammed the glorification of Abdul Qadeer, calling him a “British agent who incited the 1931 mob.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel” He said, “He wasn’t a freedom fighter. He was planted to create unrest. Turning him into a hero is nothing but political fraud and appeasement.”

He further rejected the comparison between July 13 and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. “That was colonial brutality against peaceful civilians. July 13 was a communal mob attempting to burn down order. Don’t insult the freedom movement by twisting facts,” Chugh said.

“This is a dangerous pattern — downplay Hindu suffering, celebrate Islamist mobs, and pretend it’s resistance. Then cry secularism,” he said, warning that such narratives reopen wounds and justify the ideology that led to the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus.

“When you glorify the butchers, you erase the victims,” he said.

Chugh stressed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP stands for truth, justice, and the dignified return of every displaced Kashmiri Pandit.

“This isn’t just a narrative battle — it’s a fight for truth,” he concluded (KNS)
