Srinagar, Sep 09 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been formally invited by the Director General of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad bin Amin Madani to attend the OIC’s foreign ministers’ meeting and the meeting of the Kashmir Contact Group, which would be held from September 19 to 22, 2016 at the during the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
During the meeting, elaborate discussions would be held on the ongoing bloodshed in Kashmir, gross human rights violations carried by Indian forces in Kashmir and steps taken by the OIC to help Kashmiris get their right to self determination and to resolve Kashmir issue.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, an Hurriyat spokesman said the Mirwaiz, who heads the Hurriyat (M) which has an observer status in the OIC, continued to be under arrest while Government of India (GoI) had impounded his passport four years back as a result of which he would not be able to attend the OIC meetings. (KNS)
