OGW held, arms, ammunition and narcotics also recovered in Kupwara: Police

Kupwara, Nov 02 (KNS): The security forces on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an OGW and also recovered a large quantity of narcotics, arms and ammunition in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

As per a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) in a joint operation based on the input that one person namely Adil Hussain son of Mir Haider Shah of Takia Badarkote who is a hardcore OGW and is also involved in narco-terrorism has received consignment of weapons and narcotics from across the border.

“On this, search was launched in his house at Takia Baderkote by Kupwara Police along with local. During searches two AK-47 rifles, two AK magazines and 208 AK rounds were recovered from his house,” reads the statement.

It reads that during questioning, he disclosed that one Faraz Ahmed som Mir Shah of Padna Prara is the main supplier of weapons to militants and had given the seized weapons to him too.

“The house of Faraz Ahmad Shah was also searched from which four pistols along with five magazines and one packet of brown sugar like substance was recovered from his house.”

It reads that, however, Faraz Shah had already escaped from his house and searches were on to arrest him.

It reads that the recovery of weapons from these OGWs is a major setback to militants to execute their nefarious designs and also the seizure of narcotics exposes the changed strategy of ISI to fund militancy. (KNS)
